The Basque Country, one of the highest projected regions in Europe with over a century of Industrial activity, is home to some of the world’s most influential manufacturing companies. BIND is part of the greater ‘Up!Euskadi’ platform backed by the Basque Government and SPRI Group, the business development agency that equips local companies with resources to access industrial and innovation sites, adopt new technologies, and expand internationally. SPRI also leads the Invest in the Basque Country initiative, attracting foreign investment and positioning the region as a prime industrial and entrepreneurial destination.

Basque Country Ecosystem

An Attractive Destination for
Industrial Investment

There are countless reasons to choose the BIND Platform, part of a larger public initiative promoting, attracting and investing in innovation and emerging technologies.

The Basque Industry Plan – Euskadi 2030 aims to achieve 25% industrial GDP by 2030 through digitisation, decarbonization, and high-quality job creation while supporting SME growth with over €100 million in investment. The BIND Platform directly supports this plan’s goal of developing “more industry, better industry and fewer emissions” serving as the region’s open innovation hub, connecting startups with industrial leaders to advance digital transformation through public-private collaboration.

The Basque Country currently has more than 1,000 technology startups that have an estimated valuation of more than 1.5 billion euros. It’s an ecosystem with differential public support, where more than 100 public and private agents work to establish the best environment for the birth, development and growth of innovative and/or technology-based companies. In 2024, the entire Basque ecosystem made available 800 initiatives to support entrepreneurship, which represents a total budget of more than 82M€. The BIND Platform is one of the many successful programmes designed to support and expand the Basque Advanced Industrial and Entrepreneurial networks.

Now in its 10th edition, BIND has a proven venture-client model and strategic open innovation approach that aligns with the needs of both emerging companies and established industry leaders. With oversight by government agencies, BIND’s public-private structure ensures delivery on set goals, all part of an ecosystem committed to R&D and innovation.
